Lake State's Banned Words for 2010.

Each New Years Eve for the last 33 years, faculty at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste Marie, MI issue a list of words that should be banned for the coming year. These are typically words that are over used, misused or just plain horrible use of the english language.The school recieved 1000's of nominations each year for the list. Sending sexually explicit pictures and text messages through the cell phone.

FRIEND AS A VERB
Came into popularity through social networking websites. You add someone to your network by "friending" them, or remove them by "unfriending" them.

TEACHABLE MOMENT
What might otherwise be known as 'a lesson.'

IN THESE ECONOMIC TIMES….
Nominations concerning the economy started rolling in as the 2009 list was being put together last year, i.e. "bailout." They kept coming this year, in these trouble economic times. " South Park " warned us about what would happen if we angered The Economy.

Nominated for several years. We couldn't chill about it anymore.
